Carroll County Memorial Hospital is excited to offer our patients with expanded Orthopedic Outpatient and Surgery Services to include total joint replacements of shoulders, hips and knees.

CCMH Outpatient Orthopedic Clinic provides:

Dr. Gregory Barnhill, D.O.

Dr. Barnhill comes to CCMH through a partnership with Orthopedic Surgeons Inc. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine; Master of Science in Agronomy Genetics from the University of Missouri-Columbia; and Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from the Unversity of Missouri-Columbia. He completed his internship at Normandy Osteopathic Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, and his residency at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery and an assistant professor of surgery at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He has been seeing patients at CCMH since 1990.


Dr. Paul C. Cowan, M.D., M.P.H

Dr. Cowan is a Kansas City native who comes to CCMH through a partnership with Drisko, Fee & Parkins Orthopaedics. He is a Sports Medicine fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon. He received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University, his medical and master’s degrees from the University of Kansas, and completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Kansas in Kansas City, Kansas. 

As part of his fellowship at the TRIA Orthopaedic Center in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, Dr. Cowan provided medical care for the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, MLB’s Minnesota Twins, Gustavus-Adolphus college football, and area high schools. His interests are in athletic injuries to people of all ages including ACL reconstruction, multi-ligamentous knee injuries, rotator cuff repairs, and many more procedures for the knee and shoulder.

Dr. John Eggers, M.D.

Dr. Eggers comes to CCMH through a partnership with Drisko, Fee & Parkins Orthopaedics. He is a fellowship trained hip and knee surgeon specializing in total hip and knee replacements and revisions. He has expertise in treating complex primary and revision arthroplasties. He also received extensive training in maintaining native joints through surgical and non-surgical interventions when applicable.

He has had fellowship training in total joint revision: surgery performed when joint replacements have worn out, failed, or become infected. He obtained his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE and subsequently completed his Orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He then went on to sub-specialty fellowship training, graduating from the Cleveland Clinic Adult Reconstruction Fellowship. He has a specialized focus in preventing total joint arthroplasty infections, writing and reviewing many publications on the topic. He is a reviewer for multiple publications including the Journal of Arthroplasty and the Journal of Knee Surgery. He accepts transfer of complex hip and knee cases from outlying hospitals without joint replacement expertise.
