CCMH Acknowledges Breast Cancer Awareness
November 12, 2019
CARROLLTON, Mo. – Throughout the month of October, Carroll County Memorial Hospital recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness. From discounted mammograms, to ribbons for a free-will donation, to a fun and educational ladies night event, CCMH shows its support in many ways.
On Thursday, Oct. 3, CCMH held its fourth annual Treasure Your Chest event. Nearly 30 health education, direct sales and drink vendors participated in this year’s event. Festivities included discounted services, shopping, prizes, refreshments and health education.
The Treasure Your Chest committee offered breast cancer ribbons to community members for a free-will donation. Donors could choose to personalize one in memory or honor of a loved one who fought the disease. The ribbons were displayed in the hallway connecting the main hospital building to the medical plaza during the month of October. One hundred nine dollars was collected, and will be donated to HELP Services in Carrollton.
“Treasure Your Chest is always a great time, and this year didn’t disappoint,” said Christina Acord, CCMH Mammography Supervisor. “We enjoyed a revamped health education platform, many of our favorite vendors, prize giveaways, and refreshments provided by CCMH 4 Corners Café. We look forward to next October as we explore ways to grow and improve this important awareness month.”
This year, three brief health education sessions were offered to event attendees throughout the evening. Kristen Butterfield, CCMH PT, spoke about pelvic floor therapy, Amanda Riley, CCMH BSN, RN, informed attendees about CCMH’s newly established Nurse Navigator program and Amy Patel, MD, Breast Radiologist and Medical Director of the Women’s Imaging Center at Liberty Hospital, discussed “Taking Charge of Your Breast Health.”
