CARROLLTON, Mo. – Carroll County Memorial Hospital is very thankful for their core group of compassionate men and women who dedicate their time to the organization, employees and especially the patients.

National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to thank all the thousands of volunteers across the country who keep many organizations running, communities’ safe and provide the services that otherwise would not exist without volunteers. April 17-23 marked National Volunteer Week this year.

In celebration, Carroll County Memorial Hospital staff held a volunteer appreciation breakfast and ceremony after their May meeting, where they recognized the service of the Auxiliary volunteers. This year’s theme was Volunteers are the Heart Behind the Hands.

"Our volunteers give of their time in so many ways, including sewing and quilting items for patients, welcoming guests as they enter the hospital and donating funds to various patient needs," said Kate Bonderer, CCMH Director of Community Relations. “We are incredibly appreciative of their support.”

As a group, the volunteers contributed a combined total of 1,620 hours over the last year. Jim Paul volunteered an astounding 3,000 hours over the last five years. Although he was unable to attend the event, he was presented with a certificate at a later date.

“In addition to the event, we honored our volunteers by collecting notes of appreciation from staff and sharing stories and photos about our volunteers on Facebook,” Bonderer said. “Our current group of volunteers consists of 16 individuals who love helping others and having a sense of purpose. If you know of someone who might be interested in volunteering at CCMH, please contact me at 660-542-1695 ext. 3970.”
