CARROLLTON, Mo. – The employees of Carroll County Memorial Hospital give back to the community throughout the year, but truly enjoy their annual holiday giving, where they participate in a food drive and children’s gift adoption.

The Annual Holiday Food Drive is a fun challenge allowing CCMH employees to be competitive, while they also get in the holiday spirit of giving back. Last year, they set a goal of 3,300 items and surpassed it, collecting 3,353 items to donate to the Ministerial Alliance’s annual distribution. This year, staff again grew the donation and provided 3,799 items.

“This year local businesses, churches and Carroll County Memorial Hospital provided 115 families and 115 children with gifts and 451 total sacks of food,” said Kate Lyons, CCMH Director of Community Relations. “CCMH employees adopted 75 of those children from Carrollton and the surrounding communities, as well as added a new component to this year’s drive. We held a special ‘Christmas in July’ drive, where staff collected paper goods to be able to add to the non-perishable food items that local families would receive for the holidays.”

Carroll County Memorial Hospital also partners with the Ministerial Alliance in sponsoring an Angel Tree each year.

“It is always amazing to see our employees step up and make Christmas special for so many young girls and boys in our local communities,” said CCMH Nutrition Services Director Kristy Heussner. “Employees have a great time picking out something special for their adopted angel. I am so glad I get to be a part of this every year.”

Another family-friendly activity that CCMH holds during the holiday season is Breakfast with Santa. Over 150 community members attended again this year, and free will donations totaling $545 were raised for the CCMH Foundation.

CCMH wraps up the holiday season by celebrating internally with Secret Santa gift exchanges, daily games and a carry-in lunch, to name a few.
