September 01, 2017
CARROLLTON, Mo. -- September is National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. Not only is the Carroll County Memorial Hospital Senior Life Solutions program working to raise awareness during the month of September, but they work hard to engage and educate the community on the importance of emotional well-being every day. Talk of suicide should never be dismissed. If you, or someone you know is thinking of suicide call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
The Senior Life Solutions program staff are trained in the use of standardized, evidence-based tools for screening patients at risk of suicide. In addition, the staff assists the patient to create a plan to prevent future suicide attempts or suicidal thoughts.
Carroll County Memorial Hospital Senior Life Solutions program is an intensive outpatient group therapy program designed to meet the unique needs of older adults suffering from symptoms of anxiety and depression often related to aging.
Carol Dickerson, LCSW, MSW, Program Therapist, who has been with the Carroll County Memorial Hospital Senior Life Solutions Program since it opened in 2012, said, "Seeing first hand how our patients grow and return to leading fulfilling lives is an inspiration.”
