CCMH Welcomes Dr. Jared Smith as General Surgeon

CARROLLTON, Mo. – Carroll County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) is pleased to announce the addition of Jared B. Smith, MD, a highly experienced and board-certified general surgeon, to its medical staff. Dr. Smith brings extensive expertise in advanced surgical techniques, with a particular focus on minimally invasive procedures.
Dr. Smith grew up in Columbia and Jefferson City, Missouri. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Missouri–Columbia and went on to receive his Medical Degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where he was recognized for his commitment to teaching and excellence in patient care, earning the prestigious Golden Apple Teacher of the Year Award during his tenure as Chief Resident.
With a patient-centered approach, Dr. Smith prioritizes listening carefully to each individual and tailoring surgical care plans to meet each patient’s unique needs and goals. His clinical interests include treatment of gallbladder disease, hernia repair, skin lesions and cysts, diverticulitis, and more. He has performed thousands of minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Smith will begin seeing patients in the CCMH Outpatient Specialty Clinic August. 10.
Dr. Smith has previously served as Trauma Director and Chair of Surgery at Centerpoint Medical Center and has been consistently recognized for his excellence in care. He has been named a “Top Doctor” by several regional publications, including 417 Magazine, 435 Magazine, Kansas City Magazine, and Ingram’s Magazine. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Smith treats a wide range of conditions including appendicitis, gallbladder disease, complex hernias, colon cancer, Crohn’s disease, GERD, diverticulitis, skin cancers, and more. He performs numerous procedures such as appendectomies, cholecystectomies, removal and insertion of port a caths, hernia repairs, cyst removals, excision of masses, colectomies, colostomies, feeding tubes, lymph node biopsies and endoscopies.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, cooking, and walking trails with his wife and their dogs. He especially enjoys supporting his children in their collegiate sports activities.
