CCMH Welcomes Dr. Thaker to Hospitalist Program
May 29, 2020

CARROLLTON, Mo. – Carroll County Memorial Hospital is excited to implement a new hospitalist program beginning June 1. Our first doctor to begin the program at CCMH will be Dr. Reuben I. Thaker, MD.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Thaker to our team,” said Tim Braun, CCMH Chief Operating Officer. “Over the past several months, CCMH has been researching the rationality of implementing a hospitalist program and finding the best candidates to fit our needs as a small community hospital.”
A hospitalist is a physician whose primary professional focus is on hospitalized patients and treats an array of conditions. Hospitalists are involved exclusively in patient care, research, teaching or leadership or in a combination of these roles.
Hospitalists lead the patient’s medical team and coordinate care. They can order x-rays and diagnostic tests, examine test results, order treatments and medical services, and prescribe medications. Many patients that end up in the hospital have complicated cases with multiple health conditions occurring at once, which makes the hospitalist incredibly important.
Dr. Thaker received his medical degree from University of Tennessee at Memphis. He completed his internship in surgery at Staten Island University Hospital and his residency in family medicine at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. His medical interests include wound care, hyperbaric medicine and regenerative medicine.
Dr. Thaker’s personal interests include music and sports. He also enjoys teaching and traveling.
The new hospitalist program can improve the patient’s experience. Hospitalists provide continuity of care while in the hospital which increases communication between patients, doctors and family members. When patients leave the hospital, hospitalists give a summary of your hospital stay to your primary care provider. The primary care providers then resumes your care at that point.
