Gilman, Riley Receives Green Belt Certification from MHA
March 25, 2019

CARROLLTON, Mo. – Cindy Gilman RN, Interim ACNO, and Blake Riley, PharmD, received recognition from the Missouri Hospital Association for the completion of an 8-month long project on Medication Reconciliation.
Missouri Hospital Association offers the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Project exclusively to Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) participating hospitals.
Lean Six Sigma is a performance improvement platform with roots originating in the production and manufacturing industry. Its methodology builds upon a five-step process — Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control — with an intense focus on the removal of errors, defects or “waste,” described as any step, motion or resource that does not add value to the process.
On Feb. 12, Gilman and Riley attended the 2019 MHA Quality and Safety Showcase to present their project on Medication Reconciliation to 17 other member hospitals. Following the presentations Gilman and Riley received their Green Belt certificates.
“Lean Six Sigma has provided us with the tools and knowledge to successfully complete projects within our organization by improving the quality of care and services we provide,” Gilman said.
