Thoreson Named as One of Becker’s Critical Access Hospital CEOs to Know
November 25, 2024
CARROLLTON, Mo. – Becker’s Hospital Review is delighted to release the 2024 edition of its “Critical access hospital Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) to know” list. Carroll County Memorial Hospital’s CEO Scott Thoreson was one of only two Missouri hospital CEOs named to the list.
“The real reason that I’m being recognized is the efforts and outcomes of all our CCMH employees and the associated providers that take care of our patients each and every day,” Thoreson said. “Their efforts have allowed us to be honored as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital two consecutive years.”
As CEOs of critical access hospitals, these leaders have stimulated growth, fostered partnerships and enhanced community wellbeing. With a relentless drive to improve community health, these leaders expand care access for populations that may otherwise need to travel broadly and spend exorbitant amounts for the care they need.
The CEOs featured on this list are creative thinkers, continually reimagining their approaches to safety, quality, outcomes, service lines, recruitment, retention and more. Wielding a deep understanding of the necessity of CAHs, these CEOs are devoted to serving their communities. This list uplifts critical access hospital CEOs for their determined approach to optimizing healthcare. Becker’s Healthcare is thrilled to feature these accomplished leaders, who are crucial to the successes of their respective organizations.
“We would like to thank Scott for his service to the hospital and community,” said Rachel Davidson, CCMH Chief Communications Officer. “It is a priority for him to keep things as transparent as possible between the hospital and the community. We appreciate his desire to write letters to the editor of our local paper and volunteer with area civic organizations.”
Thoreson joined Carroll County Memorial Hospital as CEO in July 2021. In his role, he is responsible for the oversight of the 25-bed critical access hospital’s operations and 240-plus employees. In 2023, CCMH was recognized as a top 20 critical access hospital by the National Rural Health Association. Previously, Mr. Thoreson served as an administrator with the Mayo Clinic Health System in Springfield and St. James, Minn.
